Two new collaborative works on CO2 reduction in Energy & Environmental Science and in Angewandte Chemie
Two new collaborative papers were published on the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide.
The first paper with title Ag2Cu2O3 - a catalyst template material for selective electroreduction of CO to C2+ products, was coordinated by the team of Dr. G. Schmid from Siemens AG and was published in the journal Energy & Environmental Science. The paper shows that a silver-copper mixed oxide with a paramelaconite-type crystal structure can convert CO to C2+ products with a faradaic efficiency in the order of 90%, after the oxide is fully reduced to a CuAg bimetallic material.
The second paper with title Probing CO2 reduction pathways for copper catalysis using an ionic liquid as a chemical trapping agent, was coordinated by the group of Prof. B. Etzold from the TU Darmstadt and was published in the journal Angewandte Chemie - International Edition. The paper shows that the modification of copper foam electrodes with an ionic liquids can alter the selectivity of CO2 reduction, providing insights for the reaction pathways.
