Research Interests

An important area of chemical energy storage is the reconversion of energy, bound in energy carriers, by fuel cells. By the use of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) it is possible to use different energy carriers like hydrogen or light hydrocarbons as fuels. In the case of regenerative direct alcohol fuel cell, the fuel should not be oxidized completely. These products of partial oxidation (aldehydes, ketones) could be regenerated with LOHCs loaded with green hydrogen. Therefore, it would be possible to use the existing infrastructure for liquid fuels and to minimize the handling with gaseous hydrogen.
