Research Interest

In the light of depleating fossil fuel reserves and the urgent need of energy revolution due to climate change, alternative energy carriers have to be implemented. One very promising option in terms of green energy carriers is hydrogen. Consequently, efficient ways of hydrogen storage apart from high pressure and cryogenic processes have to be found. Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers provide an attractive way to chemically store hydrogen produced from excess renewable energy for mobile as well as stationary applications. The hydrogen can then be released on demand and being used e.g. in fuel cells to cover peaks in energy demand. In order to make the process of hydrogen storage and hydrogen release as efficient as possible, complex challenges in terms of the design of technical reactors as well as catalyst development, reaction engineering, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics and technical issues have to be overcome.
