Reaktivrektifikation Glas (RFG), Membrane OnePot (MOP)

The objective of my doctoral thesis is to investigate the dehydrogenation of LOHC and the separation of LOHC and hydrogen through two experimental set ups:

- RFG, Reaktivrektifikation Glas with the motto “Ready For Greatness”

- MOP, Membrane OnePot with the motto "Massive OverPowered"

The RFG plant consists of glass components (reactor, condenser) and has a limited operating pressure slightly above atmospheric, but offers the advantage of allowing visual observation of the reaction within the reactor. The research focus with this plant is to investigate the evaporation of the LOHC during the catalytic reaction and the immediate re-condensation of the LOHC in the head of the reactor. The condensate is then returned to the catalytically active area for further reaction. The RFG plant is in operation since summer 2023. The first master thesis is going on there since October 15, 2023. The next master thesis on RFG will start in spring or summer. Please feel free to apply with your CV and motivation letter.

The MOP plant is a novel concept, in which a size-selective membrane will be tested to separate the hydrogen (H2) from the LOHC benzyl toluene (C14H14) and its hydrogenated species. The first experiments will be performed in the gas phase. The next master thesis on MOP will start in spring or summer. Please don't hesitate to apply with your CV and a motivation letter.

The long-term goal is to combine the results of both projects into one single LOHC dehydrogenation plant.

Have a great day and do not stop until you win 😊

Kind regards

Marius
