The researchers at HI ERN have the opportunity to interact and closely collaborate with our academic and industrial partners. We aim at world-class interdisciplinary research that relates to current energy-related issues using the all-new infrastructure at the HI ERN and the complementary facilities from our cooperation partners. Our research is performed by international teams of scientists from different disciplines, i.e. chemistry, engineering, physics, materials science, etc. More information on the individual research activities and focus of each group can be found in the section Research.
Doctoral students will be employees of Forschungszentrum Jülich which cooperates closely with the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) through which the phd students are officially awarded. Moreover, doctoral students at the HI ERN are free to join the graduate program of the FAU. The scientific and technical training provided equip them with excellent skills and qualifications for their future career. Postdocs will also be employed at the Forschungszentrum. Employees of Jülich can participate in the development and further training courses of the Forschungszentrum.
